Hello, I’m Alexa. My parents say they named me after my great grandfather but secretly they named me after the Billy Joel song, “On the Downeaster Alexa”. Unfortunately, I do not have any affiliation with the amazon device I share a name with. At Jeva Design Studio I am the Studio Coordinator. I oversee the studio, sample production, job mixing, and the creation of new finishes. Recently, I have taken on a Creative Director role as I am trying brand and form a cohesive over all feel for Jeva Design Studio’s digital and physical media.
Favorite current design trend? Embracing the unexpected. Pairing bold choices with equally bold choices to keep a varied and surprising look. I love strong design choices and this trend truly harnesses the unexpected and weird into a cohesive look.
Thoughts on pineapple pizza? I love it!!! I am always too embarrassed to ask to get pineapple added at a real slice shop. I would go as far to say its my preferred topping. I’d order a whole pie of it if I could but I get shot down by whoever is ordering pizza with me at the time.
What does working for a woman-owned business mean to you? Coming from the male dominated world of technical theater and then transitioning into a the male dominated world of construction, being in a woman-owned business is everything to me. It empowers me knowing that I can be strong and stand on my own in a room and complete the same caliber of work as any male. To be able to see a whole company of women who can do the same is beyond words!
Favorite place in NYC? Fort Totten. It’s an intact Civil War era fort that is in Queens. It was built to protect the East River. Fort Totten never saw battle action but has served purposes for WWI, WWII and the Cold War. I love to visit there, walk through the fort, sit on the roof and look out at the water. The architecture makes it feel like being in medieval castle.

Favorite current design trend? Statement walls for sure. I like that it’s a very broad trend, there’s so many different possibilities of what you can do, you can really make it our own.
Thoughts on pineapple pizza? While it’s by no means my go-to slice, I am in favor of pineapple on pizza, I really like the sweet and savory flavor combo!
What does working for a woman-owned business mean to you? Woman-owned businesses—especially in male-dominated industries—are so important. Getting to spend my days with such creative, innovative, and passionate women is truly inspiring. To me it's all about supporting each other, and showcasing our unique perspectives.
Favorite place in NYC? The Temple of Dendur at the Met! I think it’s so peaceful, sometimes I’ll just go there to read or journal.
